Spain is home to some of the most spectacular river sources in Europe, which have become nature tourism attractions due to their scenic richness and uniqueness. The Yescapa platform has highlighted five enclaves where water springs up, creating unique scenarios.
In Albacete, the Mundo river rises in the Sierra de Alcaraz with the Chorros del Río Mundo, a waterfall of almost 80 metres that in times of floods offers the phenomenon of the “Reventón”. In Cuenca, the Cuervo river emerges in the Serranía, with waterfalls adorned with moss and ferns, declared a Natural Monument.
In Jaén, the Cañada de las Fuentes, in the Sierra de Cazorla, is home to the source of the Guadalquivir, an intimate enclave surrounded by pine forests that contrasts with the more than 650 kilometres it travels to Cádiz. On the border of Álava, Burgos and Vizcaya, the Nervión gives rise to the Salto del Nervión, the highest waterfall on the peninsula at over 220 metres.
Finally, in Navarre, the Urederra surprises us with the turquoise colour of its waters in the Natural Park of Urbasa and Andía, where access is regulated in order to preserve this enclave declared a Nature Reserve.
